Player/Parent Agreement
Our program strives to provide the best baseball experience possible for our players, families, and coaches. This does not just include the on the field experience but also the off the field experience.
Below are guidelines and expectations we have for our players and parent’s. Failure to follow these expectations could result in dismissal from your team.
We encourage all of our players and parent’s to read the following guidelines and ensure their understanding and commitment to following these guidelines prior to joining our program.
Terms And Conditions
The Maryland Baseball Club (MBC) is an academy-style travel sport organization. The mission of the MBC program is provide quality baseball resources to all players in an effort to develop each player to the best of their ability. This PLAYER/PARENT AGREEMENT is a “good faith” effort on the part of the Maryland Baseball Club organization to delineate the terms and conditions of playing baseball for the club.
In exchange for the opportunity to play baseball for The Maryland Baseball Club, players and parents/guardians agree to abide by the terms and conditions of this AGREEMENT in its entirety. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of this AGREEMENT in its entirety can lead to dismissal from the program. In cases of dismissal, players and parents/guardians agree that they are NOT eligible for a refund of fees. Players and Parents/Guardians may appeal a dismissal to the President of the Maryland Baseball Club. Appeals must be made in writing within thirty (30) days of receiving notification of dismissal.
Players and parents/guardians agree that by signing below, completing the Registration Form, and paying the initial deposit that they are committing to the entire MBC Baseball season (which typically ends in July or August depending upon the team’s schedule). This commitment further means that the players and parents/guardians understand that they are fully responsible for the total amount owed by each player on the team regardless of the amount of games they play. This includes if a player misses games due to injury, being dismissed from the team, coaches discretion, and/or voluntarily quitting the team regardless of when. Each player agrees to make payments in a timely manner for each installment and ensure that the full balance is paid on time as outlined on the registration form. Any money paid is non-refundable regardless of situation either personally or team specific. This includes cases in which a tournament, league game, practice, etc. is cancelled regardless of reason. Team expenses are divided evenly among each individual family which means failure to pay effects every family on the team. Maryland Baseball Club does not collect any additional money than what is required to support a team. If an individual falls behind on their payment, MBC reserves the right to suspend any and all baseball activity, including the participation in practices and/or games, withhold distribution of apparel including uniforms, or dismiss an individual from one of our teams.
Players and parents/guardians agree and accept the risks that come with playing a sport such as baseball. These risks include the potential for injury. In the event of an injury, whether it be before or during your season, Players and Parents/Guardians accept that they are still responsible for the full fee. Because MBC does not collect more money than what is needed to cover team expenses, and because our fee is determined based on an even split among all players, we can not simply refund money or allow a player to stop payment. We do not pro rate payments or discount/refund as a result of an injury, regardless of when it occurs. However, in the event of an injury that causes a player to miss a significant amount of time, players/parents can submit a claim to the MBC President who will review the claim and work with individual families in good faith to find a solution.
All money paid is non-refundable. Players and Parents/Guardians agree that they forfeit any payments made should they decide to leave the program at any point voluntarily or involuntarily (dismissed by team), suffer an injury that prevents a player from participating, moves to another area, etc. Players and Parents/Guardians also understand that practices, games, tournaments, and other team activities could get cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen reasons including a global pandemic. Refunds and/or credits will not be given in these situations due to the fact that MBC also does not receive a refund/credit. Players and Parents/Guardians understand and accept the risks, including financial risks, associated with participating in a sport, especially an outdoor sport where weather can be a factor.
Players and parents/guardians agree that all playing time and other on-field decisions are the sole prerogative of the team manager and the designated coaching staff. Playing time is not guaranteed for any player and the Manager/Head Coach will have the final say on amount of playing time and positions played for each player. If a player or parent/guardian has a question pertaining to on-field matters, they must address the Manager/Head Coach in the appropriate manner and tone at the appropriate time (in person or via the phone at least 24 hours after a game/practice). In addition, all Parent’s agree to allow the Manager/Head Coach to coach.
MBC Baseball players are NOT to participate in baseball practices and/or games with another organization/team during the MBC baseball season (regular season through post-season and including Fall play) without the prior approval of the team manager. Participation on a high school baseball team is an exception to this condition. Requests for approval from the team manager must take place prior to any actual participation with another team. The main reason for this is player safety.
Players and parents/guardians agree to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. No negative words or actions on or off the fields will be tolerated by players, parents/guardians, or fans. MBC players, parents/guardians, and fans are expected to always conduct themselves with utmost respect toward the opponent, umpires, and tournament staff and facility. Absolutely no arguing with umpires or opposing players or fans will be permitted. Our coaches and other staff reserve the right to dismiss any individual, including a player or parent, from a practice, game, or team if behavior is not indicative of the MBC organization. Players and parents/guardians agree that the team manager may dismiss from the team any player whose conduct (or family’s conduct) is deemed inappropriate, disruptive and/or inconsistent with the general well being of the team.
Players and parents/guardians further agree to address all areas of concern/disagreement related to the team in person (no email) with the manager/head coach AWAY from the ball field setting and at least 24 hours after the last game is played.
Team budgets are managed by the President of the program in collaboration with Head Coach of a team. The Head Coach makes the decision regarding the events and specific baseball activities that their team will participate in as well as any additional costs they deem necessary to provide a great baseball experience to their families. Costs are divided equally among the players. In some cases, guest players are invited to play and may “pay as they go” to cover tournament expenses and uniform fees. The budget does not cover hotel, travel, or other personal expenses for the players/families. It does cover tournaments, practice facilities, games, some equipment, and other direct costs incurred by the program and team. All player checks are made payable to “The Maryland Baseball Club.” Failure to comply with the prescribed payment plan could result in dismissal from the team. All deposits and monies paid are nonrefundable.
