Matt Backert Founded the Maryland Baseball Club in 2016 after managing multiple travel programs. He is currently the Head Baseball Coach at NCAA Division 3 Notre Dame of Maryland University. He has over 17 years of experience coaching at the College, High School, and Travel/Club levels. Prior to coaching he was a two sport athlete at Neumann University in PA, where he played both soccer and baseball, earning conference honors in both sports. Coach Backert spent almost a decade overseeing the youth baseball operations for Ripken Baseball where he was responsible for creating and implementing many of Cal and Bill Ripken's instructional programs. This included running coaching clinics and camps both domestically as well as internationally in places such as China and Nicaragua, as well as their tournament operations.

Head coach Michael Page has coached at multiple levels including high school (Perryville) and college (Dundalk Community) as well being a long-time fielding and hitting instructor for the Ripken Academy as well as a private instructor.
Michael was a 3x All-County shortstop at Perryville High School. He was Rookie of the year as a freshman, hit .500 as a junior and was All-East as a senior. He also was the 2x county scoring leader on the soccer field and was 2x All-county. He Played a year as a scholarship shortstop at Temple University before transferring to Mount St Mary's where his .327 batting average places him 10th all-time in the Mount record books.
Michael has served as the longest tenured Big Brother (Big Brothers/Big Sisters) at 12 years in Baltimore City. Additionally, has volunteered for Meals on Wheels and is currently a Court Appointed Special Advocate for a foster child in Harford County.
He currently works full-time for a business consulting firm based in Seattle as a Client Principal that focuses on data transformation/Artificial intelligence/Machine Learning and Data Science.

oach Fama brings an extensive and diverse background to MBC as both a coach and player/athlete.
Coach Fama currently serves as an Assistant Coach at the college level at CCBC Dundalk, and spent the 2021 summer as an Assistant Coach for MBC’s 15U Exposure Team.
Prior to CCBC Dundalk and MBC, Coach Fama served 5 seasons as JV Head Coach at Harford Technical High School, following 1 season as JV Co-Head Coach and 2 seasons as a JV Assistant Coach.
For 7 years, Coach Fama coached at various summer baseball camps conducted by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, where he became well-versed in “The Ripken Way”.
Coach Fama has 4 seasons of additional experience as a previous Head Coach of 15-19 aged teams with Churchville Recreation Council. Prior to playing 5 seasons at the Semi-Pro level, Coach Fama played Varsity baseball at Harford Technical High School. A multi-sport athlete - Coach Fama attended Frostburg State University, where he competed at the NCAA Div. III level as a 3-year member of the Varsity Track & Field Team as a hurdler, sprinter, and javelin thrower. He was a Capitol Athletic Conference Finalist in javelin his final season.
Coach Fama earned his B.S. in Liberal Studies with Focus in Kinesiology & Health Education. He later became a Certified Personal Trainer and earned advanced fitness certifications as a Medical Exercise Specialist and Sports Performance Specialist.
